In creating Dance Party, and as we continue to add new songs to it, we have tried to select songs that are popular but still classroom appropriate. 

We have always used only radio-friendly versions of songs for the tutorial, and in cases of songs with profanities, we selected 90-second segments (or less) which avoid inappropriate language. 

We looked at the use of language and profanity in G-rated movies to guide our decisions.

Of course, in the end teachers are the best judge on what is appropriate for their classrooms, and there are a small number of songs with some mature themes (not profanity) which we have restricted to students who are over 13.
