NOTE: This view is only available for CS Fundamentals Courses (Courses A-F, Express, and Pre-Express) from 2019 and later.

As a teacher, you can now see your class’s progress on lessons that accrue to the Computer Science Teachers’ Association’s (CSTA) K-5 Standards. The Standards progress view allows you to easily:

1. See which CSTA Standards a given CS Fundamentals course meets, and which lessons in that course should be completed to teach a specific standard.
2. See which lessons the class has completed that map to a given CSTA Standard. The Standards progress view will automatically report completion status on “plugged” or online lessons, and you can self-report progress for your class on “unplugged” or offline lessons. 
3. Create a PDF or printed version of the Standards view that you can share with administrators, teachers, or parents

Getting to the Standards View

You can view the Standards view by going to the Progress tab of the Teacher Dashboard. To find the view, do the following:

1. From your home page, tap the name of the section you want to see the Standards view for in your Classroom Sections table. This will take you to the Progress Tab of the Teacher Dashboard for that section.
2. In the Progress tab, make sure you’ve selected a CS Fundamentals course (2019 or later) in the Course / Unit dropdown
3. Click the Standards view button next to the Lessons view and Level view buttons. This will open the Standards progress view

   • The Standards progress view will show each CSTA standard that is mapped to a given course in a table, along with the current section’s progress on lessons that accrue to that standard.

What does the Standards view show?

The view shows the following:

• Each CSTA standard that is covered in the selected Course, that standard’s concept and identifier, and a description of the standard
• The lessons in the Course that map to a given Standard and whether or not the class has completed those lessons. Lessons can be in one of three states:
  • Not started (): Any lessons that are not in progress or complete.
  • In progress (): “Plugged” or online lessons are considered in progress when at least 20% of the class have completed at least 20% of the levels in a lesson. Unplugged lessons cannot be marked as in progress.
  • Completed (): "Plugged" or online lessons are considered complete when at least 80% of the class has completed at least 80% of the levels in a lesson. Unplugged lessons are considered complete when the teacher has marked them complete
• You can update progress for Unplugged Lesson using the “Update unplugged progress” button in the upper, right-hand corner of the view

  • NOTE: Currently, the self-reported unplugged lesson progress will only be reflected in the Standards View, and not the Lessons or Levels Views.

A key point to remember: Completing all lessons in a Course that map to a standard does not automatically indicate that the class or individual students have mastered that standard - please use your best judgment as a teacher to determine how well the class or individual students have learned the course material and a given standard.

Can I easily share the Standards view with others?

Yes! You can generate a PDF of the Standards view or print a copy of it by tapping the “Generate PDF Report” button. The PDF report will contain everything you can see in the Standards view. Before the report is generated, you’ll also be given the option to add a “Teacher’s Note” to the report and a chance to update your unplugged lesson status. 

Why aren't my unplugged lessons showing as "Complete" in the Standards view?

Since unplugged lessons are completed away from the Code.org website, we don't know if your class has worked on them! We've made it possible for you to tell us whether or not your class has completed an unplugged lesson so your report will be accurate.

Try one of these two options:

1. Update unplugged progress button: Click the “Update unplugged progress” button in the upper, right-hand corner of the view

2. Generate a PDF report by clicking the "Generate PDF Report" button.

Regardless of the option you choose, a dialog will open showing all of the Unplugged Lessons in the current course. You can then check the boxes for all the lessons your class has completed.

NOTE: Currently, your self-reported, unplugged lesson progress will only be reflected in the Standards view, and not the Lessons or Levels views.
