The first step in launching CodeAI through ClassLink is to log in to your ClassLink Management Console and add the CodeAI application. This article walks ClassLink administrators through the process of installing and configuring the CodeAI app for your school or district.

IMPORTANT: CodeAI does not currently support rostering through ClassLink. Only SSO is supported at this time.

Add the CodeAI Application

Log in to your ClassLink administrator account at launchpad.classlink.com. Once signed in, navigate to the App Library.

From the global app library, search for CodeAI in the search bar.

Click the Add button. Once added, CodeAI will appear in your list of apps under Add & Assign Apps.

Assign the CodeAI App to Users

After adding the CodeAI app, you need to determine which users will see CodeAI on their ClassLink LaunchPad.

1. From the Add & Assign Apps page, locate CodeAI in your app list.
2. Click on CodeAI, then click Assign App.
3. Select the roles you want to grant access to — for example, Students and Teachers.
4. You can also assign the app to specific schools, groups, or profiles depending on your district's needs.

Alternatively, you can leave CodeAI available in the App Library so that teachers and students can add it to their own LaunchPad on their own.

How Students and Teachers Access CodeAI

Once the CodeAI app is installed and assigned, students and teachers can access it in the following ways:

• From the ClassLink LaunchPad: Users sign in to their ClassLink LaunchPad and click the CodeAI icon. They will be launched directly into CodeAI without needing to enter a separate username and password (Note: if this is the first time a user is signing into CodeAI from ClassLink, they will be prompted to create a new account. If a user already has an existing CodeAI account they would like to use, see section below).
• From the App Library: If you chose not to assign the app directly, users can open the App Library from their LaunchPad (click the + icon) and search for CodeAI to add it themselves.

Linking an Existing CodeAI Account

If teachers or students already have existing CodeAI accounts, they can link their ClassLink account to their CodeAI account:

1. Sign in to CodeAI
2. Go to Account Settings
3. Scroll down to the Manage Linked Accounts section
4. Click Connect in the ClassLink row and follow the prompts to authenticate

Once linked, users can sign in through ClassLink going forward and retain all of their existing progress, sections, and data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the ClassLink integration automatically link existing CodeAI accounts? 

No. The ClassLink integration will not automatically link existing CodeAI accounts or move students into their respective classrooms. Teachers and students who already have CodeAI accounts will need to link their accounts manually using the steps described above.

Does CodeAI support rostering with ClassLink?

No, at this time CodeAI does not support rostering with ClassLink. Only SSO is supported at this time.

How should my students sign in?

If your students are using ClassLink, they should go to their ClassLink LaunchPad and click the CodeAI icon. They can also navigate to https://studio.code.org/users/sign_in and use the "Continue with ClassLink" sign-in option.

Can district admins set up admin-level accounts through ClassLink?

We do not currently support admin-level accounts on CodeAI or through integrations with any single sign-on service.
