Feature: AI Teaching Assistant Artifacts
Available to: Teachers all courses
Overview
Your AI Teaching Assistant can now help you create custom classroom materials — called artifacts — tailored to your students and grounded in Code.org curriculum. No more starting from scratch. Just tell the AI Teaching Assistant what you need, and it will generate a ready-to-use resource personalized for your classroom in seconds.
Artifacts you create are saved directly to your section and lesson, so everything stays organized and easy to find right where you need it.
What Can I Create?
Right now, the AI Teaching Assistant can generate two types of artifacts:
- Lesson Hooks — Engaging warm-ups to kick off a lesson and get students curious and ready to learn
- Exit Tickets — Quick formative assessments to check for understanding at the end of a lesson
Both artifact types are generated by the AI Teaching Assistant based on Code.org curriculum and personalized to your classroom context.
How to Create an Artifact
- Open the AI Teaching Assistant by clicking the TA icon in the bottom corner of any page
- Click Suggest Prompts in the top right of the chat window
- Select Create from the dropdown menu
- Choose Write a lesson hook or Write an exit ticket from the suggested prompts
- The AI Teaching Assistant will generate a personalized artifact based on your current lesson and classroom context
- Review your artifact — you can refine it by continuing the conversation with the AI Teaching Assistant
Saving Your Artifact
Once you're happy with your artifact, you can save it to a specific section and lesson so it's always right where you need it.
Saved artifacts appear under Custom Resources on the Lesson Materials page in your Teacher Dashboard:
👉 Go to your Lesson Materials page
From there, you can return to any saved artifact at any time — no need to regenerate it.
Print or Present Your Artifact
When you're ready to use your artifact in class, you can:
- Print it to hand out to students
- Present it directly from the screen during your lesson
