Tutor+ is a space your students can use at the end of a lesson to look back at what they did, practice the objectives they're still working on, or take on a creative challenge if they're ready for more. It has three parts: Recap, Practice, and Challenge. You can review what students create in the Challenge part from View progress → Review extension activities.
Students move through CodeAI lessons at different paces. Tutor+ gives each student somewhere to go next, without you having to build extra practice or invent extension activities and then assess them on top of your regular class work.
How do students get to Tutor+?
Students open Tutor+ from the lesson they just finished.
Or the Unit Overview page
Or they will be redirected after they finish the final level.
Part 1: Recap
The Recap shows students what they did in the lesson and gives them a chance to reflect.
- Students tap through a short set of cards showing how the lesson went: how many levels they completed, how many minutes they worked, and how many validated levels they passed. The last card, The Receipt, puts it all together.
- Students rate their understanding of each lesson objective as New to me, Getting there, or Got it. They need to choose one for each objective before they can select Next.
- Students can add two optional notes: A moment I felt successful today... and Something I'm still confused about or working on.... Then they select Done.
- On the Choose your next step screen, students choose I want to practice or I want a challenge.
Students' ratings help Tutor+ decide which objective to start with in Practice.
Part 2: Practice
Practice is for students who want to review. Tutor+ suggests an objective to start with, based on the student's reflection, and then students can work any way they like.
- On the Let's get to work screen, students choose how they want to practice:
- Watch a video: a short explainer video.
- Listen to a podcast: a short audio summary of the lesson's concepts.
- Practice with flashcards: flip through key terms and definitions with Flip.
- Chat with Tutor: ask questions in a conversation with an AI tutor.
- Students can switch between video, podcast, flashcards, and chat at any time using the tabs along the bottom of the screen.
- When they're ready, students select Done. On the High five! screen they can choose Keep practicing or Test your skills
- Test your skills → opens a Skills Check: a short set of questions. Students answer each one with Submit, see an explanation, and move on with Next question →. Question types include multiple choice, select-all, matching, ordering, and sorting into categories.
Students who want a challenge instead can select I want a challenge instead from the Practice screen.
Part 3: Challenge
Challenge is for students who are ready for more. They choose how to show what they know, get feedback from AI, and can try again.
- On the Choose your challenge screen, students choose Create a video or Create on a whiteboard.
- Students look through the available challenges and select Start challenge on the one they want.
- Students create their response:
-
On a whiteboard, they draw and label with shapes, arrows, and text, and some challenges start with an image already on the board. They explain their thinking by recording Audio or typing Text.
- With a video, they record themselves using Start Recording.

- Students submit their work and receive AI feedback on it.
- Submitted work appears in the Extension Activities gallery, where you can review it.
If students change their mind, they can use Choose a different challenge or Start over at the top of the workspace.
How do I review my students' Challenge work?
- From My Dashboard, open your section and select View progress.
- Select Review extension activities.
- On the Extension Activities page, choose a unit from the list on the left. Student work is grouped by type (for example, Video Projects). Use Sort to switch between Most recent and Oldest.
- Select a project to open it. You'll see the student's work, the challenge prompt, and an AI Assessment panel with feedback and a rubric.
- To share a project with the class, turn on Visible for students on its card. By default, students can't see each other's projects, so review one before making it visible.
- To respond to a project, select Add reaction.
What is the AI Assessment?
- Feedback, marked as shown to the student, is the encouraging written response your student receives.
- Rubric, marked as not shown to the student, lists the rubric levels. The level the AI chose is tagged AI Assigned Score.
Please note
- Recap, Practice, and Challenge all use AI. Tutor+ explanations, chat replies, and feedback can be imperfect, so look over the AI Assessment before you rely on it, especially the rubric level, which students don't see.
- Challenge gives feedback, not a grade.
- Students' Challenge projects are private to you by default. A project is only visible to your section when you turn on Visible for students.
- Video challenges use your student's camera and microphone.
- Student Snapshot doesn't currently show Tutor+ activity.
